Low expansion foams are considered to be those foams with an expansion ratio of 20:1 when mixed with air, that is one volume of foam concentrate will create 20 volumes of foam. The foams are effective in controlling and extinguishing most flammable liquid (Class “B”) fires.

Firetec's Low Expansion Foam System for cargo deck or a heli-deck protection will consists of fibre glass or a Stainless Steel material foam tank, foam pump, proportioner, foam monitors and portable foam applicators according to the regulations. For the Heli-deck Foam System, it shall also includes hose reels station with foam-making device, non-collapsible hose and hand-held nozzle as per CAP437.

In some of the machinery spaces where a low expansion foam system is required, the system will discharges the foam through a fixed piping network and spray nozzles.

The system can be delivered in skid units, which the foam tank, foam pump, proportioner, valves and control panels are mounted on skid. The unit is suitably located outside the protected area, readily for operation in the event of a fire.
